1.       What is 80PLUS Certificate?

       80PLUS is a major project in the current environment that tries to be energy smart.With global energy shortage, the Ecos Consulting Institute in the U.S. encourages manufacturers to develop more efficient model.  Therefore, it stipulates a standard certificate the efficient energy use.  The certificate promotes computer manufacturers to integrate PC desktop and the internal power of servers.  Thus the power supply can maintain more than 80% of conversion efficiency no matter when it is in 20%, 50%, or 100% loading status.  When reaching over 80% of efficiency, the waste of energy can be greatly reduced.  All the computer manufacturers should file application to the Ecos Consulting Institute.  After the company is certified by the institute, its computers can then use the 80PLUS logo.  The logo guarantees that the product can save a tremendous amount of energy, which lessens the gamers' burden and contribute to environmental protection.
      2.           What is RoHs ?
RoHs is a directive released by the EU to restrict the uses of hazardous substances, which is commonly known as the un-leaded process in the industry.  RoHs is the abbreviation of Restriction of Hazardous Substance, it mainly prohibits manufacturers to use six types of heavy metal or chemical substances, they are Pb, Cd, Cr6+, Hg, PBB, and PBDE. Among them, the maximum amount of PBDE is 0.1%(1000ppm).  All the EU members must observe the content of the directive starting from July 1st, 2006, when all the products sold on the market must meet the requirements.
3.        Input voltage:
      The input voltage refers to the origin of the input, defining its scope and the standard use voltage.  For example: Input voltage AC 90 ~ 132V.  Standard use Voltage AC 115V.
4.        Input current:
     The input voltage is refers to the origin of the input, defining biggest demand electric current of its work in the input voltage scope.  For example: the Great value of 1.7Arms in all input voltage and output full load condition
5.        Inrush current:
      Inrush current or input surge current refers to the maximum, instantaneous input current drawn by an electrical device when first turned on.
6.        What's power supply efficiency?
      The ratio of power input to power output, expressed in terms of a percentage.  The remaining of the power input is converted to heat during the AC/DC conversion process.  The greater efficiency means less heat inside the computer and lower electric bills.  The high efficiency will bring power supply with low noise, thermal and high reliability.
7.        Load regulation:
      Load regulation is the capability to maintain a constant voltage (or current) level on the output channel of a power supply despite changes in load.
8.        Ripple & Noise:
      The ripple and noise from ordinary power supplies is often a limitation in working with low-level signals.
9.        Overshoot:
      In signal processing, control theory, electronics, and mathematics, overshoot is when a signal or function exceeds its steady-state value.  It arises especially in the step response of band limited systems such as low-pass filters.  It is often followed by ringing, and at times conflated with this latter.
10.    Rise time:
      Rise time is an analog parameter of fundamental importance in high speed   electronics, since it is a measure of the ability of a circuit to respond to fast input signals.
11.    Hold-up time
       The amount of time, measured in milliseconds that a power supply unit (PSU) can maintain output within the specified voltage range after a loss of input power.  The hold-up time is the amount of time that the system can continue to run without resetting or rebooting during a power interruption.  Some power supplies may also includes a battery to maintain power in the event of a power outage.  These are called an uninterruptible power supply.
12.    What is OPP?
     The full name of OPP is Over Power Protection.  Most of the products have a maximum value to their total output watts, when the watts are higher than the standards, the OPP will stimulate the active protective mechanism of the power supply to shut down the machine automatically.
13.    OTP:        
      The full name of OTP is Over Temperature Protection.  Most of the products have a maximum value to their output temperature, when the internal temperature rises abnormally, the OTP will stimulate the active protective mechanism of the power supply to shut down the machine automatically.
14.    What is the Power-Good signal?
      Besides the voltages and currents that the computer needs to operate, power supplies also provide a signal called the "Power-Good" signal.  Its purpose is to tell the computer all is well with the power supply and that the computer can continue to operate normally.  If the Power-Good signal is not present, the computer shuts down.  The Power-Good signal prevents the computer from attempting to operate on improper voltages and damaging itself.
15.    Power sequence signal:
      The power source order signal refers to the attached signal for the maintenance system normal operation; it usually exists when many outputs supply system, the system must start in sequence.
16.    Hi-pot:  
      Hi-pot is an abbreviation for high potential.  Traditionally, Hi-pot is a term given to a class of electrical safety testing instruments used to verify electrical insulation in finished appliances, cables or other wired assemblies, printed circuit boards, electric motors, and transformers.    
17.    What is PFC?
      PFC means Power Factor Correction.  It is used to indicate the efficiency of an electronic device on using the energy.  The power factor means the ration of effective efficiency and total used electricity.  The higher the factor, the higher using rate of the product as well as its electricity conversion efficiency.  The theory of PFC is to adjust the current wave of the input AC and modify them to be consistent to DC current.
18.   The advantages of full range voltage?
      Full range voltage allows products to automatically choose the voltage in various countries.  It can be applied to any country in the world.  The range of the voltage is 90 to 264V AC.  It is not necessary for manual switching and can reduce the mistake of manual switching for further power supply damages.
